Chef Carlos Gaytán
An interactive cooking demonstration by chef Carlos Gaytán in a private room at Tales of Carlos Gaytán in Chicago, Illinois for up to eight (8) guests
Multi-course, wine and rare spirits paired meal for up to eight (8) guests
Originally from a small town in Guerrero, Mexico, Carlos Gaytán learned to cook from his mother. He came to Chicago at the age of 20 and began his career as a dishwasher at the Sheraton North Shore Hotel. At his initial restaurant, Mexique, he became the first Mexican chef to earn a Michelin Star and followed it up with Tzuco in 2019.
His newest venture, Tales of Carlos Gaytán, is his most personal restaurant yet. Open three days each week, the tiny, 12-seat dining room serves an 11-course tasting menu that reflects stories and chapters in the chef’s life: venison tartare with Huitzuco cheese and pickled black trumpet mushrooms; seared duck breast and duck leg confit paired with foie gras and mole poblano; and pork belly accompanied with chicharron (pork rinds) and roasted sweet plantains.
The lucky winning bidder’s party of eight will get to experience this intimate and exceptional presentation of authentic Mexican cuisine, enhanced by French technique and paired with a selection of wine and rare spirits.
