Mamma Mia! Two people get to shadow chef Sarah Grueneberg in la cucina of Monteverde Restaurant & Pastificio in the wonderful Windy City. When you’re not getting down to business with chef Grueneberg or up to your elbows in pasta, you’ll be wining and dining at Monteverde—and taking home housemade Monteverde pasta.
Located in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood, Monteverde offers a new way to experience Italian food, highlighting some dishes that are deeply rooted in tradition and others with adventurous new flavors, through the use of global ingredients and cooking methods not usually seen in the Italian kitchen. At the heart of the restaurant is the Pastificio where the team creates fresh, handmade pastas throughout the day, offering a variety of shapes, sizes and textures.
While executive chef at Spiaggia, chef Grueneberg held a Michelin Star for three years. She was awarded the James Beard Award for “Best Chef: Great Lakes” in 2017 by the James Beard Foundation.
