Get to know the real Immokalee—the people, the history, the cultures, the challenges, the successes. The winning bidder will receive a fascinating and inspiring education during a meet-and-greet with two of Immokalee’s most dedicated and recognized advocates, performance artist and author Carlene Thissen and immigration attorney Sister Maureen Kelleher.

Performance artist Carlene Thissen is the author of two books about Immokalee, Fields of Hope, the story of the Mexican, Guatemalan and Haitian immigrants who found a new home in the agricultural community and the biographical novel, Called From Silence: The Father Sanders Novel. Immigration attorney Sister Maureen Kelleher, a 2016 “WGCU Maker: Women Who Make Southwest Florida” award recipient, will share her stories and wisdom from her many years of service to the community and her love and appreciation for its residents.

Your personal tour will include visits to local artisans and vendors, as well as the area’s agricultural and multicultural landscape. You will also enjoy a taste of Immokalee—the cultural dining experience of your choice paired with wine from among the various local cuisines.

You’ll leave with a full heart, admiration for this culturally diverse agricultural community and an understanding of why Immokalee is so special.
