From the private cellars of Judith A. Liegeois & John Scot Mueller, purchased and stored with passion in Naples, Florida.
Jackson Family Wines, founded by the late Jess Jackson and run today by his widow Barbara Banke, encompasses 40 wine estates from regions as far-flung as California, Oregon, Bordeaux, Tuscany, Australia, Chile and South Africa. Some, however, are more special than others. Near the top of the quality pyramid is Lokoya, founded in 1995 to produce Cabernet Sauvignon from four of California’s most distinctive mountain appellations: Mount Veeder, Howell Mountain, Diamond Mountain and Spring Mountain. The annual production of 2,400 cases—miniscule by any standards—is overseen by veteran winemaker Chris Carpenter.
This lot contains wines from three of those appellations, but with a very special twist: the bottles are mature and ready to drink, having been stored under pristine conditions. Unless consumers are dedicated collectors and have a cellar dating back several decades, most people today are drinking wine of the current vintage. It’s a rare opportunity to sample bottles that are at their peak of quality, especially when they represent some of the best Cabernet Sauvignon that California has to offer.
INSIDER’S INFO: Wine must be picked up at the Naples Winter Wine Festival office or shipped at the winning bidder’s expense.
