From the private cellars of Rosann & Bill Nunnelly, purchased and stored with passion in Naples, Florida.
What do you do when you’re surrounded by greatness at every turn? The winning bidder on this lot will have some hard decisions to make. You might begin with the 1982 Château Mouton Rothschild, a First Growth from the vintage that inaugurated Bordeaux’s modern era. Move on from there to 1989, an exceptional vintage in both the Graves region of Bordeaux as well as the Rhône Valley. 1989 Haut-Brion is a modern legend that received raves from every major wine critic on the planet, and the Jaboulet Hermitage La Chapelle is a classic Syrah that will last until 2045.
The two bottles from the New World are equally impressive. 2005 IX Estate is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot, from the Napa winery owned by Ann Colgin & Joe Wender. The 1994 Harlan Estate received 100 points from Robert Parker, Jr. who believed it would hit its peak of maturity in 2027.
For dessert, uncork a bottle of 1975 Château d’Yquem, the world’s greatest sweet wine. This blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon presents the perfect balance between sweetness and acidity.
INSIDER’S INFO: Wine must be picked up at the Naples Winter Wine Festival office or shipped at the winning bidder’s expense.
