1 – 1.5 Liter 2014 Opus One
A twilight hour tour and tasting at Opus One for six (6) people
It was a marriage made in heaven: Robert Mondavi, the man who put California wine back on the map in the 1960s, collaborating with Baron Philippe de Rothschild, the proprietor of Bordeaux First Growth Château Mouton Rothschild. The vision was to create a Bordeaux-style blend in the New World, using the best available vineyards, equipment and winemaking talent. Mr. Mondavi sold 35 acres from his celebrated To Kalon vineyard to start the joint venture, and the participation of the Rothschild family lent an aura of importance to a wine region that was still emerging. From the beginning, Opus One was special, expensive and highly sought after.
The winning bidder and a total party of six will have a private tour and tasting at the Opus One winery, which rises gracefully out of the landscape on St. Helena Highway in the Oakville District of Napa. After visiting the European-style barrel room and the immaculately landscaped vineyards, they will sit down at the twilight hour to discover the recent vintages of Opus One. In addition, the winner will receive a Magnum of the 2014 Opus One, a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot and 2% Malbec.
INSIDER’S INFO: Tasting and tour to be scheduled for a mutually agreeable date after April 2020 and will expire on January 1, 2021. Wine must be picked up at the Naples Winter Wine Festival office or shipped at the winning bidder’s expense. Accommodations, airfare and ground transportation are not included.
