1 – 3 Liter 2016 Joseph Phelps Vineyards Insignia, Napa Valley
A certificate for a private tasting & multi-course lunch hosted by a Phelps family member for up
to four (4) guests at Joseph Phelps Vineyards
Joseph Phelps was a pioneering figure in the history of California wine. He was a successful builder in Colorado during the 1950s and 1960s. Joe became passionate about wine when he came to build a branch of his construction business in San Francisco. In 1973, he founded Joseph Phelps Vineyards in St. Helena, CA.
Joe made two very important contributions to California winemaking. The first was the introduction of the first varietally labeled Syrah in California, and the second was the creation of the proprietary red wine blend known as Insignia in 1974. Over 40 years later, Insignia is recognized as one of the world’s most iconic wines.
The successful bidder of this lot will receive a private tasting and multi-course lunch hosted by a Phelps family member for up to 4 guests at Joseph Phelps Vineyards in St. Helena. The lot will include a 3 Liter bottle of 2016 Joseph Phelps Vineyards Insignia, Napa Valley; recently awarded 99 points by Robert Parker Wine Advocate. The wine consists of primarily Cabernet Sauvignon with small amounts of Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Cabernet Franc. This powerful and complex wine will age gracefully for decades to come.
INSIDER’S INFO: The tasting and lunch will be scheduled on a mutually agreeable date and will expire on January 30, 2021. The wine will be shipped directly to the successful bidder or it can be picked up during the winner’s visit. Accommodations, airfare, and ground transportation are not included in this lot.
