1 – 1.5 Liter 2009 JCB #1 Cabernet Sauvignon
Lunch at the Oakville Grocery for four (4) people
Private tour and tasting at 1881 Napa for four (4) people
JCB is short for Jean-Charles Boisset, one of the most charismatic personalities in the world of wine. The son of a winemaking family in Burgundy, he moved to California in the early 1990s and purchased his first winery, Lyeth Estates. Today he is the proprietor of 24 wine estates spread across France, the United States and Canada. They range from a traditional Burgundy property (Domaine de la Vougeraie) to Senses by JCB, a flamboyant destination for fashion, beauty and fragrances in the heart of wine country in Yountville.
JCB is Boisset’s special collection of limited-production wines: rare, numbered bottles that unite “centuries of Burgundian family tradition combined with the graceful exploration of sophisticated terroir.” The #1 Cabernet is perhaps the most special of them all, a wine that blends the power of Napa Valley with the elegance of his native Burgundy.
What better place to enjoy the #1 Cabernet Sauvignon than the iconic Oakville Grocery, purveyor of fine provisions to Napa Valley residents and visitors since 1881…now owned by Boisset. And what more appropriate way to honor the history of the valley than stopping in to 1881 Napa, a museum and wine tasting facility next door to Oakville Grocery, where Jean-Charles maintains a tasting room in the restored Victorian home. Life doesn’t get much better than that.
