Sarah Grueneberg, the Naples Winter Wine Festival’s 2020 Chef de Cuisine, began cooking at age eight at her grandparents’ ranch in Southeastern Texas. She launched her career at Brennan’s of Houston, where she became their first female sous chef in 2003. Her passion for Italian food lead her to Chicago in 2005, where she worked at Spiaggia under Tony Mantuano, where she rose rapidly, becoming the executive chef and earning Michelin stars for three years in a row. She opened her own Chicago restaurant, Monteverde Restaurant & Pastificio, in 2016, with the goal of offering food that is “soulful, surprising and filled with storytelling.” Despite winning numerous accolades (including a James Beard Award), she’s still most at home in the kitchen.

The winning bidder will receive an immersion into the world of Monteverde, beginning with a day spent looking over the shoulders of Chef Sarah and her team. This will be followed by a lesson in pasta making for two people, and dinner for four at Monteverde with wine pairings. You may start with some of the pasta you made that very afternoon, followed by one of her signature dishes: wild red snapper, a 24-ounce Prime ribeye, or the stupendous Ragu alla Napoletana combining cacciatore sausage, soppressata meatballs and a tomato braised pork shank.
