Growing up in a small town in upstate New York and working in his family’s vegetable garden, Charlie Palmer learned the difference between farm-raised and mass market food early in his childhood. When he established Aureole on Manhattan’s Upper East Side in 1988, he was one of the first chefs to focus on dishes containing regional American ingredients. His empire has expanded since then to include locations in Las Vegas, Reno, the Napa Valley and Washington, D.C., but his “Progressive American” style still combines traditional techniques with bold, modern flavors.
At Dry Creek Kitchen, set on Healdsburg’s tree-lined plaza, the emphasis is on the food and wine bounty of Sonoma County. The service is warm and gracious, and the dining room is highlighted by floor-to-ceiling windows, floral arrangements and doors that open onto a garden terrace.
Palmer is also a hotelier as well as a chef and a wine lover. The winning bidder’s party of four will receive two nights’ accommodations at his Hotel Healdsburg, as well as dinner at Dry Creek Kitchen. They’ll be served a menu that encompasses the best of local produce, seafood, poultry and beer, and will leave both sated and refreshed.
INSIDER’S INFO: Reservations at Dry Creek Kitchen are subject to availability and must be booked at least one (1) month in advance. Reservations at Hotel Healdsburg are subject to availability on Sunday through Thursday nights only, excluding the months of September and October and any major holidays. Airfare, ground transportation, tax and gratuity are not included and the offers expire on January 31, 2021.
