A family-style dinner at Donald Link’s new Italian restaurant, Gianna in New Orleans, Louisiana for four (4) people
James Beard Award-winning chef Donald Link has built an empire on the foundation of honest, simple food. A native of south Louisiana, he grew up steeped in the culinary traditions of Creole and Cajun culture. Best known for Herbsaint, Cochon, Cochon Butcher and Pêche, he opened Gianna in the New Orleans Garden District to celebrate rustic Italian cooking with locally grown produce and Gulf seafood. Along with business partner Stephen Stryjewski, he created the Link Stryjewski Foundation to break the cycle of violence and poverty among young people in New Orleans, and to provide them with educational and job training opportunities.
The winning bidder’s party of four will enjoy a family-style dinner at Gianna. You might begin with classic appetizers such as eggplant caponata, tuna stuffed peppers or house made salami. The house made pastas range from simple tortellini in brodo to spaghetti with blue crab, spicy chilies and bottarga. Entrées can be as light as veal saltimbocca with prosciutto and capers or as satisfying as a 32-ounce bone-in ribeye. How fresh are the ingredients? The restaurant employs a full-time forager who scours local farms for the best available produce.
