An exclusive dinner at The French Brasserie for eight (8) people
What’s an Italian chef doing operating a French restaurant? Although Vincenzo Betulia is justly famous for the rustic Italian food he turns out at Osteria Tulia and Bar Tulia, he has a hidden side: he trained with celebrated chef Paul Bartolotta at the James Beard award-winning restaurant Lake Park Bistro in Wisconsin. Betulia learned the nuances of French cuisine and now displays them at The French, a faithful reproduction of a Parisian brasserie. With its tiled floor, long bar, open kitchen and red leather banquettes, the décor is pure Belle Époque.
The food is simultaneously evocative of a bygone era and right in step with what the best Parisian brasseries are serving right now. Dishes such as Burgundy escargots, coq au vin, bouillabaisse and cassoulet are standard-bearers for authentic French cuisine. Yet the menu also has a lighter side: you can begin with fried squash blossoms or octopus carpaccio and dine on Mediterranean branzino, pan roasted black grouper or a classic steak frites. To accompany your meal, choose a wine from an unsung region of France or sip on a Vieux Carré or Lillet Spritz. The winning bidder will host a party of eight at The French, and it will be a memorable evening.
