Although you’d never know it from the sleek and elegant atmosphere of Ocean Prime, Cameron Mitchell’s restaurant career began at his mother’s dining room table. Starting in his hometown of Columbus, Ohio, Mitchell’s empire has grown to 34 restaurants embracing 15 different concepts in 12 states. The Naples outpost of Ocean Prime continues a tradition that extends to 16 other cities. A great deal of the credit goes to executive chef Vladimir Trivunovic, a native of Serbia who has devoted his life passionately to hospitality, and general manager Rick Giannasi, a former mixologist and bar trainer.
The most dramatic way to begin your visit to Ocean Prime is with a custom-built “Smoking” Shellfish Tower, which might consist of oysters, shrimp, Alaskan crab legs and Maine lobster tail. Failing that, you could start with Sonoma goat cheese ravioli, Chef Trivunovic’s favorite dish to prepare. While USDA Prime beef takes pride of place among the entrées, don’t overlook the Florida grouper, blackened snapper or miso black cod. Classic desserts such as ten-layer carrot cake or chocolate peanut butter piece complete the experience. Your party of ten will enjoy a chef’s dinner with wine pairings, and it will be an enchanted evening.
