12 – 1 Liter Grace Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon, etched (1 each: 1996-2007)
From the private cellars of Cheryl & Larry Andrews, purchased and stored with passion in Naples, Florida.
Of all the cult wineries of California, Grace Family Vineyards is the smallest, the most sought after and the most improbable. It began as a family hobby after Ann & Dick Grace moved to Napa in 1976 and began farming their single acre of vineyard land. The first harvest was vinified at Caymus in 1978, and for many years after that the miniscule production was only sold through a mailing list. To this day the production remains at a mere 250 cases, with an additional 280 cases of their second wine, Blank.
Grace Family Cabernet is a treat: rich and concentrated, with expansive flavors of black cherry, plum and currant against a background of toasty oak. As noteworthy as the wine is, however, their commitment to charitable causes is even more remarkable. Ann & Dick have been involved with the Naples Wine Festival since its inception in 2001; even though they are now retired, they continue to support a wide range of charities around the world through their Grace Family Vineyards Foundation.
In most years, it’s difficult to find a single bottle of Grace Family Cabernet. Here’s your chance to own a twelve-year vertical showcasing some of the best recent vintages.
INSIDER’S INFO: Wine must be picked up at the Naples Winter Wine Festival office or shipped at the winning bidder’s expense.
