Behind-the-scenes tour of the von Arx Wildlife Hospital at the Conservancy of Southwest Florida for five (5) people
One (1) Conservancy Club Sponsor membership for one (1) year
People are taken to a hospital when we get sick, but it’s a much different situation for creatures in the wild: they frequently become the victims of natural predators and seldom survive. The von Arx Wildlife Hospital is a vital part of the Conservancy of Southwest Florida’s Nature Center. Approximately 3,700 sick, injured and orphaned animals are admitted every year. In many cases their health issues have been directly caused by interaction with humans (car strikes, window collisions, fishing injuries and gunshots).
These creatures get an individual regimen of care tailored to their needs which may include nutrition, fluid therapy, pain management or surgery. When healing is complete, the animal is moved to an outdoor recovery area where they can gradually become reacquainted with life in the wild. When their recovery is complete, the hospital strives to release them in the area where they were originally found.
The winning bidder’s party of five will tour the Wildlife Hospital and get a close-up view of their vital work. Since wildlife patients need to maintain limited contact with humans in order to survive when they return to the wild, most of the observation will be through the viewing pavilion. The winning bidder will also receive a Conservancy Club Sponsor membership for one year.
INSIDER’S INFO: Tour of the von Arx Wildlife Hospital is only available Monday through Friday and expires on January 31, 2021. The Conservancy Club Sponsor membership will be valid for one (1) year from the date of activation.
