It all began in late 1985, when Orlando businessman Jim Hewitt approached Philadelphia 76ers general manager Pat Williams about the idea of bringing an NBA franchise to Orlando. It seemed like a far-fetched idea at the time: Orlando was a small town with no major airport and no arena, and Miami was also interested in an expansion franchise. However, the town also had Disney World, which was well on its way to becoming an economic engine fueling the entire state.
The pair persevered and Orlando was granted an expansion franchise in 1987 along with the Miami Heat, Charlotte Hornets and Minnesota Timberwolves. The name Magic was chosen as a reference to Disney’s Magic Kingdom, and work was begun on the stadium that became the Amway Center. The team has made 15 playoff appearances in its 30-year history and has featured NBA stars such as Shaquille O’Neal, Patrick Ewing, Steve Francis and Dwight Howard.
Four courtside tickets to a 2020 Magic home game will be awarded to the winning bidder; his or her party will also have dinner in the Fields Ultimate Lounge and enjoy Roundtrip, Private Airfare from Naples to Orlando for the game.
INSIDER’S INFO: The four (4) courtside seats are to be chosen for a mutually agreeable game and exclude the following games: Philadelphia 76ers, Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks. Game tickets must be reserved by March 1, 2020. Flight is only available from Naples, Florida to Orlando, Florida. Car service is not included.
