Football has been part of the University of Florida for as long as the school has been in existence: founded in 1906, they fielded their first varsity team that fall. The team initially competed as an independent and belonged to several conferences before joining the SEC in 1932. They have played in more than 40 bowl games, won three national championships and eight SEC championships, and have produced 50 NFL first-round draft choices. The Gators finished the 2019 season with an impressive 11-2 record! They play on Steve Spurrier-Florida Field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, named for former head coach Spurrier and sports benefactor Griffin— and it is the largest football stadium in the state, with a capacity close to 90,000.

That’s where the winning couple will sit when they attend one of the Gators’ home games during the 2020 season. Football is a religion at the University of Florida and the stadium is one of its cathedrals: If you’re not converted before you arrive, you’ll leave as a die-hard Gators fan.
