If you’re a purebred dog, owner or handler, the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is both the World Series and Superbowl of the canine world. First held in 1877, it’s the second-longest continuously held sporting event in the United States (the Kentucky Derby preceded it by two years). The group and “Best in Show” competitions take place at Madison Square Garden in New York City, where the event began. It was originally a show for gun dogs such as setters and pointers; but over the years, terriers have taken “Best in Show” the greatest number of times (47), followed by the sporting group (18) and the working group (15). Dogs are judged strictly according to their breed standard and not against each other.

Four lucky dog lovers will fly to New York for the 2020 show. They’ll stay in an apartment overlooking Central Park and receive invitations to the Westminster dinner, AKC Museum of the Dog and the Agility Invitational.
