2 – 750ml 2016 Maison Evenstad, Meursault Premier Cru Charmes
When Grace and Ken Evenstad settled in the Willamette Valley’s Dundee Hills in 1989, they brought with them a love for the wines of Burgundy. They were among the first to believe that Oregon was capable of creating world-class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and Domaine Serene was born out of that belief. In 2015, their love affair with Burgundy came full circle when the Evenstads purchased the historic estate of Château de la Crée in Santenay.
During the intervening years, the Evenstads also became pioneers in philanthropy. The couple joined the Naples Children & Education Foundation Board of Trustees in 2002, and Grace was Chairman of the Naples Winter Wine Festival in 2006. Their auction lots have raised over $2 million at the Festival and in excess of $20 million nationwide; they have been honored as featured vintners at the country’s leading wine events, and they have generously supported wine research and education around the U.S.
The winning bidder on this lot will receive an assortment of wines that represent the best of both Oregon and Burgundy. Evenstad Reserve Pinot Noir is the benchmark wine of Domaine Serene, a blend from different vineyard sites that represents a harmonious experience for the senses. The two Premier Cru releases from Maison Evenstad, Santenay Gravières and Meursault Charmes, provide a glimpse into why Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Burgundy are the world standard.
INSIDER’S INFO: Wine must be picked up at the Naples Children & Education Foundation office or shipped at the winning bidder’s expense.
