2 – 1.5 Liter 2018 Lombardi Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast (signed)
Most California winemakers will tell you that the high-altitude vineyards in the Sonoma Coast are optimal for both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir: cool climate, high rainfall and sea breezes help encapsulate the natural acidity and distinctive fruit flavors of the grapes. The Lombardi family has lived in Petaluma since 1947; since 2013, when they founded their winery, they’ve been sourcing small lots of grapes from prestigious Petaluma Gap sites such as Griffins Lair, Gap's Crown, Hill Justice, Sonoma Stage, Spring Hill, and Terra de Promisso.
Winemaker Cabell Coursey crafts those grapes into pure expressions of Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. The wines are typically aged for 15 months in neutral French oak and are perfumed with aromas of black cherry, dark red berries and baking spices, with a sumptuous core of tasty blueberry and blackberry fruit, smooth tannins, balanced acidity and a long, lingering finish. While they are drinkable on release, they gain in amplitude and intensity with three to five years of cellaring under the right conditions.
INSIDER’S INFO: Wines will be shipped directly to the winning bidder.
