3 – 750ml Penfolds Grange Bin 95 (1 each: 2013, 2014 and 2015)
Penfolds Grange is Australia’s most famous wine and one of the world’s most collectible bottles. Made primarily from Shiraz (Syrah) with a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon blended in, it was inspired by Penfolds winemaker Max Schubert’s visit to Bordeaux in 1950. He made a small amount of the wine as an experiment in 1951, with the first official release the following year. Since then, it has come to be regarded as a First Growth of the New World.
2013, 2014 and 2015 were a remarkable trio of vintages for Grange, earning universal raves from the wine press. The 2013 was awarded a perfect 100-point score from Robert Parker, Jr. who praised its “wonderful grace and depth.” 2014 won universal kudos for its concentration, savory character and ability to age. And the Wine Spectator bestowed 100 points on the 2015 vintage, noting it’s “immense richness” and calling it “spectacularly powerful.” This is an unusual opportunity to own examples of all three.
