1 – 1.5 Liter 2017 Louis Jadot Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
1 – 1.5 Liter 2018 Louis Jadot Chassagne-Montrachet Blanc, Côte de Beaune
Maison Louis Jadot, one of the most reliable producers in Burgundy, was established in 1859 and now controls 670 acres in nearly every appellation of the region. Through a combination of tradition, winemaking talent, estate-grown vineyards and parcels leased on long-term contracts with independent growers, they have earned a spot at the very top of Burgundy’s quality pyramid.
2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Blanc, the single white wine in this trio of Magnums, is sourced from several grower parcels in the south of the Côte de Beaune and always contains a significant portion of premier cru grapes. Clos Vougeot is one of Burgundy’s most storied sites, and Jadot owns vines in one of the best parts of the hillside; their 2017 is full-bodied and spicy, with well-developed tannins and glorious fruit built to age effortlessly for many years. Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru Clos Saint Jacques is one of the jewels in the Jadot crown, a dense and seamless wine capable of evolving in the bottle for decades. Taken in order, these three Magnums are perfect for immediate consumption, mid-range aging and long-term cellaring, and provide an overview of the best Burgundy has to offer.
