1 – 3 Liter 2016 Taylor Fladgate Classic Vintage Port
Taylor Fladgate is one of the oldest port houses, founded in 1692 in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal. While it produces every level of port including ruby, tawny, vintage character and late bottled vintage, their vintage port is the flagship wine of the house. Vintage ports are aged in barrel for no more than two and one-half years before bottling, and usually require between 10-40 years thereafter to reach their peak. There are generally no more than two or three declared vintages each decade.
The 2016 Taylor Fladgate Vintage Port is a blend of fruit from three estates owned and managed by the company. It received spectacular reviews, including a 100-point rating from James Suckling, who called it “the most amazing young Taylor’s I have ever tasted.” Critics praised its elegance, structure, ripeness and seductive fruit. Suckling advised waiting until 2025 to drink it, and those who wait longer will have their patience rewarded.
