1 – 6 Liter Champagne Taittinger NV Brut La Française
Taittinger is one of the oldest Champagne houses, established in Reims in 1734. The firm has been managed by the Taittinger family for more than a century, and today is headed by Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger assisted by his children, Clovis and Vitalie. While the house has diversified into other ventures over the years (notably its ownership of the Hotel de Crillon in Paris), Champagne remains at the heart of the family and the operation.
Brut La Française is the most recognizable Taittinger label. It is a blend of 35% Pinot Noir, 25% Pinot Meunier and 40% Chardonnay from 30 different vineyard sites. The style is racy, elegant and floral, with the high percentage of Chardonnay lending crisp citrus and white flower notes. The wine demonstrates great freshness, but a few years of bottle age will bring out unexpected layers of flavor. When you open this six-liter bottle (the equivalent of eight 750 ml bottles), make sure you have lots of friends and family in attendance to share the grand moment with you.
INSIDER’S INFO: Wine must be picked up at the Naples Children & Education Foundation office or shipped at the winning bidder’s expense.
