Bobby Clampett’s credentials are impeccable in the world of golf: the winner of a record 12 NCAA championships, who left college early to join the PGA Tour at the age of 19, and who later gained fame as both a broadcaster and a coach. However, Clampett is equally passionate about wine. That passion led him to partner with award-winning vintner Len Gelfand of Paso Robles to produce a series of limited-edition wines that have caught the attention of both critics and connoisseurs.

In addition to Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon, Gelfand and Clampett have collaborated on a trio of reds that capture the essence of the Rhône varieties that thrive in Paso Robles soil. They describe their Simply Sensational Syrah as dark and earthy, with a complex nose, hints of cocoa and currants, and a smooth finish. Flying Eagle Red, a blend of 70% Petite Sirah and 10% each of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Zinfandel, yields flavors of dark berries and hints of pepper, tobacco and cedar. Their flagship wine, Impact Zone Red, combines 65% Cabernet Sauvignon with 15% Syrah, 15% Zinfandel and 5% Petite Sirah; elegant and balanced, it can accompany everything from game fish to red meats.
