The 1982 vintage in Bordeaux was historic for many different reasons. It was easily the best year since 1961, with ideal growing conditions and consistent quality levels throughout the region. In many ways, it was the first vintage of the modern era in Bordeaux and marked the beginning of a new, more sophisticated and graceful style of wine. It was also the start of Robert Parker’s career as a wine critic, as he was the first one to see, appreciate and popularize the quality of the 1982 vintage.
Simply put, this is a dream lot for any collector and lover of Bordeaux. The wines have stood the test of time, even if their prices have escalated into the stratosphere. They have been stored in perfect conditions - 56 degrees, 70 humidity, no light and no vibration. The lucky winning bidder will receive one bottle of each of the First Growths: Latour, Margaux, Haut-Brion, Lafite Rothschild and Mouton Rothschild. And if that’s not enough, your cellar will also be graced with bottles of Cheval Blanc from St. Émilion and Pomerol’s Château Pétrus, almost impossible to find. It is a breathtaking panorama of the finest wines in the world.
INSIDER’S INFO: Wine must be picked up at the Naples Children & Education Foundation office or shipped at the winning bidder’s expense.
