Twelve (12) 750ml bottle vertical of Dunn Vineyards Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (one each: 1988 – 1999)
In many ways, Dunn Vineyards is the quintessential family winery. Founded in 1979 by Randy and Lori Dunn, the property consists of 42 acres on Howell Mountain---enough land for Randy and his children to farm on their own (he’s been called a cowboy and a dirt-loving hippie, but he prefers to be known as a farmer). They make less than 5,000 cases each year, split between the Napa Valley and Howell Mountain appellations. Randy’s wines are pure mountain Cabernet: powerful and full-bodied, filled with flavors of sweet red berries, cinnamon, wildflowers, cedar and tobacco, capable of aging well for decades.
The lucky winning bidder on this lot will find out exactly how well they age, by tracking the progress of the wines in this 12-bottle vertical. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, Howell Mountain typically rests for 32 months in 100% French oak. The wine is as appealing to look at as it is to drink, packaged in an attractive bottle hand-dipped in red wax. This lot represents a singular opportunity to experience one of California’s most distinctive Cabernets over a span of one dozen vintages.
INSIDER’S INFO: Wine must be picked up at the Naples Children & Education Foundation office or shipped at the winning bidder’s expense.
