6750ml Peter Michael Les Pavots Estate Cabernet blend (2 each: 2012, 2013 and 2014)
After Peter Michael completed his six-year quest for a California property with the purchase of a 630-acre estate in Knights Valley, the first vineyard planted was Les Pavots (“the poppies”). The rocky, perfectly drained soil had a south-facing exposure that allowed Bordeaux grape varieties to ripen properly. Between 1989 and 1999, Les Pavots was populated with the red and white grapes native to the Bordeaux peninsula: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon.
2012, 2013 and 2014 was an exceptional trio of vintages for Sonoma and for Knights Valley in particular. If you could place them side by side, you’d discover a distinct family resemblance: all three are extremely full-bodied and opulent, with complex aromatics and generous flavors of plum, blackcurrant, black raspberry and baking spices. They are all built to last and should drink well for at least several decades.
