3 - 1.5 Liter Spottswoode Estate Cabernet Sauvignon (1 each: 2009, 2010 and 2011)
Spottswoode was established in 1882 near St. Helena and purchased by Mary and Jack Novak in 1972; Mary released the first Cabernet Sauvignon ten years later to commemorate the estate’s 100th anniversary. Since then, Spottswoode has become one of the most sought-after small production Cabernets in Napa. The estate is managed today by Mary’s daughters, Lindy Novak and Beth Novak Milliken.
The winning bidder on this lot will have the rare chance to own Spottswoode Cabernet Sauvignon, in Magnum format, from a trio of vintages. In 2009 and 2010, the wine received a perfect 100-point score from Robert Parker, Jr.; even the 2011, from a difficult vintage in Napa, earned 94 points and was described as simply “delicious.” All three wines display the hallmark attributes of Spottswoode: exceptional intensity and purity, a velvety texture, and an abundance of blueberry and blackcurrant fruit.
INSIDER’S INFO: Wine must be picked up at the Naples Children & Education Foundation office or shipped at the winning bidder’s expense.
